So, obviously this post is not happening within a week of the last one. The good news is I haven't updated the other blog yet either. ;o) It's a really good thing I don't get paid to blog...then again maybe that would help keep me on track.
Caitlynn will be 15 months at the end of the month! She is celebrating her second Easter this coming Sunday, and will actually be able to participate as opposed to last year when she was 2 months old. Crazy how much she has changed in the last 13 months!
We celebrated Thanksgiving in Iowa with Brett's family and Caitlynn got to eat pretty much all the thanksgiving foods. We also did an early thanksgiving with my family that was pretty nice. Caitlynn got too meet a donkey and a llama and liked both. While we were in Iowa we went black Friday shopping and scored some great Christmas/Birthday gifts for Cait.
We celebrated Cait's first Christmas at home. Cait's Aunt Cailly made her a Christmas stocking, so I made Brett and I matching ones. They were a lot of work but they looked great. Caitlynn did really well opening her gifts and she seemed to enjoy Christmas. We went to the Christmas eve service and she was really well behaved. I am glad we got to do all her first Christmas stuff at our home with her. Playing Santa really is fun. Speaking of Santa, Cait was not his biggest fan. We actually ended up seeing him twice. The first time she screamed and the second time she tolerated him.
We celebrated Cait's first birthday with her first ear infection and her first temperature of 105°. It wasn't fun for any of us, and giving your child a luke warm bath at midnight, while they're crying is the pits. Thank goodness my mom was "walking" us through that experience via text. Needless to say we learned ibuprofen works to bring down her temp and Tylenol her pain (obviously not at the same time). We also learned that if we are at the doctor for illness she has to be held down for her ear check or it might get missed :(
Caitlynn's birthday party was postponed a week thanks to the ear infection. However, we did ring in her birthday with friends and family. Cait seemed to enjoy having her little friends there to play with and the new toys. She got some really great gifts including some hand made items. We had a monkey cake that mommy made (daddy helped) and we had sock monkey cake pops made by Cayson's Cake Pop Shop out of Colorado Springs. They will ship in the winter and I definitely recommend them (plus the proceeds go to a good cause).
At Cait's one year check up she weighed 17.3# and was 28" long. She is continuing to grow but she is petite. We introduced cow milk shortly after Cait turned one, and about two weeks later stopped. She still can't tolerate straight milk. She was eating cheese and yogurt, but the yogurt was having the same negative effects so we opposed for soy yogurt and almond milk. Luckily she can still tolerate cheese, since she loves cheese.
Shortly after Cait's birthday we went to Iowa to celebrate Great Granny's 90th birthday. Cait's Aunt Danelle was there as well as Brett's uncle John. It was fun for both us girls to meet some new people. Cait traveled well in spite of her teeth that were coming in.
Speaking of teeth, as of right now, she has 8 teeth. 6 (including two molars) on top and two on bottom. She is working on some more bottom ones though. The molars just snuck in, no problem. The inscisors were the most difficult for her.
As of this moment, Cait can almost walk. She takes four or five steps on her own and would rather cruise the walls and furniture than crawl. It is bith exciting and sad at the same time. She is definitely not a baby anymore. It seems she likes to remind me of that with the new fits she started throwing when she is told no, or stop. Thankfully I find it humorous instead of aggravating.
Today Caitlynn got to dye some Easter eggs and subsequently her hand...She seemed to enjoy it and that's all that matters to me. A couple weeks ago we went to see the Easter bunny and hunt eggs with Brett's work. Cait did well with the bunny and they found six eggs. The hunt was at a city owned farm and Cait loved the animals, especially the calf.
We have one sad note to share, on March 5th we lost our sweet Bailey girl quite suddenly. There is definitely a hole where she used to be and we all miss her. Even Cait points at her photo on the wall every day. The boys seem to be coping and are still vying for top dog.
I think I may have finally gotten a good update in. I have a new phone with a swiping keyboard and that has made this update that much easier. I will hopefully update more often.
We start swim lessons soon, and I'm excited about that. Caitlynn loves the pool- Hoo Ray!
